GTA 6 story theories: how Jason and Lucia's story might play out
Fan theories about GTA 6's story: Lucia's parole, Jason's army past, a heist gone wrong and whether the ending is doomed. All speculation, clearly labelled.
This is speculation. Everything in this article is fan theory or our own reading of the trailers. None of it is confirmed by Rockstar, and some or all of it may turn out to be wrong. We label the official facts it builds on.
What we actually know
Lucia starts in prison and wants a better life. Confirmed Jason is ex-army and working for drug runners in the Keys. Confirmed The trailers show the two robbing, running and fighting together. Seen in trailer Raul Bautista is a veteran bank robber who could lead them to bigger scores. Confirmed
Everything below goes beyond that.
Theory 1: Lucia's parole is the ticking clock
The ankle monitor in the launch trailer suggests Lucia is out on some form of supervised release. Seen in trailer Fans think breaking her conditions could be a story pressure point: one slip and she goes back inside. It might even be a gameplay mechanic that limits where she can go early on. Theory 2: Jason's army past catches up with him
"Got in some trouble in the army" is a deliberately vague line. Seen in trailer A popular idea is that someone from Jason's service days, or what he did there, comes back as a threat or a bargaining chip. Fan theory
Theory 3: the big job goes wrong
Rockstar's own description of Raul suggests a score that pulls the couple in deeper. Confirmed Fans widely expect a mid-story heist to collapse, setting off the "on the run" second half that the trailers hint at. Fan theory
Theory 4: someone close sells them out
GTA stories love a betrayal. Fans most often point at Raul Bautista and Brian Heder, the two characters closest to the criminal side of the couple's life. There's no evidence either way. Fan theory
Theory 5: the Bonnie and Clyde ending
Because the press keeps comparing Jason and Lucia to Bonnie and Clyde, many fans fear a tragic ending, or a choice of endings like GTA 5 had. Fan theory Rockstar hasn't said anything about multiple endings.
